Monday 4th August to Sunday 10th August

Back to the two of us. Beck has gone to holiday club today (Monday) leaving me alone in the house. The weather is absolutely amazing today, over 40 degrees in the shade. I managed to miss the last really hot spell when the temperatures were nearer 45 degrees as I was in England. In this heat it’s impossible to do anything much and so I didn’t! Sleeping in this heat is also pretty difficult. We can’t leave the windows open as the bedrooms are on the ground floor and who knows what might creep in during the night! And no cool air either! Must make a note to organise fly screens for the windows and air conditioning for next year.
Tuesday with Beck at holiday club again I busied myself cleaning the house from top to bottom and ironing. We’re off to England again tomorrow and I like to leave the house clean and tidy. It’s still roasting hot though so it makes the job that much more difficult.

Wednesday afternoon we leave for our trip back. Earlier I paid a visit to Berticot, the Cooperative that buys our grapes. As members of the cooperative we are entitled to a discount on their wines, a very good discount in fact. And there seems to be no limit on the amount we can buy, apart from the size of our wallet! Anyway have orders from Granddad and Jen to fulfil. Purchase around 10 cases of wine, all of which are to be brought back to England (sorry Bert, I’m not trying to ruin the car, honestly!).

At 2 p.m. we set off for our next twenty-four hour trip back, stopping overnight as per usual, in Orleans. The weather continues to be amazing. Thank goodness for air conditioning!
