Our vineyard nestles in the gently rolling hills that surround the historic town of Duras in South West France. We left London in 2003 to follow our dreams of making great wine. At Domaine Chater no compromise has been made and some very special wines are now available.
Breaking News
As we were bottling the 2006 white and rosé wines we had some
great news.
Chater
2005 Oak Aged Merlot Cabernet, which is still in barrels at the moment,
was awarded a gold medal at the prestigious Paris wine show. With only
three other gold medals awarded across the whole of our area we were
really pleased, particularly after the success of the previous year's
vintage (see below).
In September 2006 Chater Oak Aged Merlot Cabernet 2004 was awarded two
stars and the incredibly rare 'Coup de Coeur' (judges favourite) by
the influential French Wine publication, the Guide Hachette. You can
order this wine online for immediate UK delivery in our online
wine shop.
We are also delighted that Chater wines were selected by Jean Christophe
Novelli for the 2006 Grand Prix Masters event at Silverstone.

Our
first vintages have been a real adventure. No compromises were made
in the vineyard - all our grapes are harvested
by hand - or in the winery and we
are really pleased with the results. But don't just be convinced by
our views, our first wines have, between them, been awarded 15 medals
at national and international wine competitions. We can now deliver
direct to the UK from our vineyard - check out our online
shop.

We
are also delighted that our wines were selected by the Guide Hachette
in 2006 and 2007.
This site charts the trials and tribulations of our venture along with progress that we make towards our goal of making excellent wine. You can learn about a year in the vines, check out our online diary to find out exactly how we're doing or just browse through some pictures around the vineyard.
