Harvest 2006
Harvest began on 9th September for the first of our sauvignon blanc. This year José's team of pickers (the motley crew pictured below) were pressed into wearing a Vigma (José's company) T-shirt - some seemed less happy than others.

Each year Rebecca ceremonially cuts the first bunch of harvest - in front of the gathered crowd of pickers!
Finally we get down to some serious picking action.
The first day was very difficult - temperatures of over 30 degrees made it difficult to keep the grapes cool and made work at the winery end of the operation tricky. At the end of the day due to the low yield and small berries we had around 30 hectolitres of juice from a hectare of vines. Looks as though overall volumes for 2006 will be very low.
